TransEurope Research Network (TRANSEUROPE)

Activities

Science Meetings

The programme will consist of 4 workshops, 1 research school and 1 major conference.

  • Workshops: the series of four 2-day workshops will be held in the first 4 years, which will bring together approximately 3 participants from each of the 6 participating countries. Each workshop will focus on a pre-specified theme, mirrored within the separate themes specified in the section on key targets and milestones.  The workshops will consist of presentations of papers by all participating countries, and active in-depth discussion of problems and solutions and exchange of information.

  • Research School: the workshop in year 2 will be combined with a 5-day school of approximately 25 students. The Research School is directed towards graduate students. At the end of the Research School, students will be invited to attend the research network workshop. Senior researchers with high international standing in the field of transnational comparative research and longitudinal statistical analysis will provide the training. The School will focus on applied methodological training using the materials developed within this project with a focus on data preparation, collecting and constructing transnational indicators, comparison of data sets, and creating comparative variables and indices.

  • Conference: The project will culminate in the fifth year in a major conference that highlights the central findings of this programme and their broader impact. Key researchers and members of the non-academic community (e.g., union members, policy-makers) will be brought togethe. The conference will consist of lectures, exchange of information, data demonstrations and active panel and informal discussions.

Grants

A central goal of the program is to offer grants to enable senior and junior scientists to cooperate in transnational research. Grants will be available for both pre- and post-doctoral applicants and according to three categories:

  1. short visit grants for 5 days, and

  2. short visit grants for 15 days

The period of actual visits may vary slightly, with this budget providing an approximation of the allocation of grants.
