Short Scientific Visits

cover the cost of short visits of senior scientists working in the area of the Supernet Programme, in order to exchange knowledge, research results and to foster joint publications. Applications for Short Scientific Visits should at least involve one contributing country. The grant will cover the costs for travel (one trip on the basis of APEX fares or 2nd class train), accommodation (on a bed and breakfast basis) and meals.

Applications should include:

• Applicant’s title, name, postal address, telephone/fax numbers, email address;
• Name and address of prospective host, telephone/fax numbers, email address;
• Date and duration of the proposed visit;
• A description (maximum 2 pages) of the planned visit.

Payment will be made upon receipt of a short scientific report of the visit indicating the results
(1/2 - 5 pages). The lenght of the report will depend on the lenght of the visit.

Short-term Fellowships

are for experienced researchers (from graduate students to post-docs) and seniors to acquire knowledge and experience. Short-term fellowships would facilitate the transfer of knowledge and techniques relevant to research from one laboratory within Europe to another (one contributing country should be involved). The fellowships are for a period of up to 6 months.

Criteria for Eligibility

• The fellowships are intended to initiate or strengthen links between different research groups based in European countries. Applications are open to all scientists working in Europe.
• Fellowships will be awarded under the condition that at least one contributing country is involved.

Procedure for Short-Term Fellowships

Applications should include:

• Applicant’s title, name, postal address, telephone/fax numbers, email address;
• Name and address of prospective host, telephone/fax numbers, email address;
• Date and duration of the proposed stay;
• Short CV of applicant;
• A strong statement from the prospective host;
• A description (2 pages) of the planned research project clearly indicating the scientific goal(s) and the relevance to the programme activities;

Allowance will be of EUR 1 400 per month + a maximum contribution of EUR 460 towards travel (travel will be refunded on the basis of APEX type airfares or 2nd class train travel for shorter distances).

Grantees will be requested to provide a written report (1-5 pages) within two weeks after the stay. Travel costs and 75% of the allowance will be payable one month in advance; the remaining 25% will be paid one month after the termination of the fellowship, subject to receipt of the grantee’s written report.
