Final Conference: A Foresight Activity on Research in Quantum Biology

Forward Look Final Conference

A Foresight Activity on Research in Quantum Biology (FarQBio)

09:00 – 16:00, Friday 23 January 2015
University Foundation
Salle Cattier, 11 rue d’Egmont, Brussels, Belgium

The European Science Foundation has conducted a foresight exercise aimed at exploring the opportunities of the emerging field of Quantum Biology.  Quantum biology has developed over the past decade, within the more general framework of quantum information science, as a result of convergence between quantum mechanics and biology.

The Forward Look report that will be presented is about this New Nanoscience that deals with systems operating at the nanoscale, but is not confined to what we think of today as nanotechnology. It is not achieved by cutting bulk materials into small pieces, but by building devices from atoms up, as living organisms do.

The report includes recommendations to European and national policy makers, research funders and educators on how to strengthen this emerging interdisciplinary field of research. The Conference will include presentations by leading scientists in the field and a round table discussion on future perspectives.

Participation is on invitation only. If you are interested in attending the conference, please contact the ESF office.
