Conference “Narratives Alternatives to Theories of Mind”

Conference “Narrative Alternatives to Theories of Mind”

12-15 July 2007, Hertfordshire, UK

The conference on Narrative Alternatives to Theories of Mind explored questions about how people understand one another.  It included debates concerning the established theories that rely on folk psychology and simulation procedures, and a more recent approach based on embodied interaction and narrative. The discussion was informed by both science and philosophy, including recent research on mirror neurons and developmental psychology.  Participants included representatives from several CNCC research groups.  The conference was fully interdisciplinary, including presentations from the fields of philosophy, neuroscience, psychology, economics, anthropology, and psychiatry.
