Mythologies formed foundation stones for many human cultures and continue to be amongst the brightest gems of our cultural inheritance. Until now, their study was qualitative, e.g., there is no classification system to facilitate quantitative comparisons, and, while it is tempting to speculate as to their historical basis, evidence is disputed. We propose a new way to investigate mythologies based on network analysis. While mathematicians may offer new insights, humanities scholars have the experience to ask the right questions and this workshop will bring them together to explore how to generate new knowledge andobtain funding to support a collaborative venture over the coming years.
