The conference will take place in Sant Feliu de Guixols, on the Spanish Costa Brava, 120 km north of Barcelona and 30 km south of Girona. Group transportation will be arranged from/to Barcelona airport, on arrival and departure days.
This 3rd conference on Biological Surfaces and Interfaces addresses the field of interfaces between synthetic materials and biological systems – biointerfaces – a topic that constitutes one of the most dynamic and expanding field in science and technology. It will cover the most recent progresses in this field by 23 invited presentations of internationally renowned researchers, complemented by shorter contributed oral presentations of young scientists and by poster presentations selected from abstracts.
It includes basic science – with emphasis on quantitative, molecular understanding of interfacial processes and its dynamic aspects – as well as applications towards biosensors & biochips, biomimetic surface platforms, biomaterials for medical implants and functional tissue engineering. Progress in frontier analytical techniques will be covered as well. Selected after-dinner keynote speakers will put the biointerface field in the larger scientific and social context, covering historical and ethical aspects of the field, general principles that govern biointeraction in nature, and scientific and economical perspectives of the field for the future.
