2011 Call for Exploratory Workshop proposals - Now closed

Each year, the ESF supports approximately 50 Exploratory Workshops across all scientific domains.

These small, interactive output oriented meetings are aimed at opening up new directions in research to explore emerging research fields with potential impact on new developments in science. The workshops, which usually last 1-3 days, are of a relatively small scale (in terms of people involved) and provide an ideal platform for focus on the topic and for all participants to contribute to discussions and plan follow-up collaborative work.

The 2011 Call for Exploratory Workshops closed on 26 May 2011 but is still available for information purposes. More information available here.

2010 Call for ESF Research Networking Programmes (RNPS) - CANCELLED

The Call for Research Networking Programmes (RNP), originally scheduled for 1 July 2010, has been cancelled (after an initial postponement). This decision was taken in the context of the current discussions between ESF and EUROHORCS (European Heads of Research Councils) about the ways in which their relationship could be better developed to serve European science.

This decision has no bearing on the call for contributions from Member Organisations for the proposals from the 2009 RNP Call. The RNP proposals recommended from the 2009 Call have been launched as planned in early 2011. Five new RNPs have been launched in the remit of PESC.

2011 Call for EUROCORES Themes - CANCELLED

No Calls for Outline Proposals launched in 2011

Since the level of financial commitments expressed by ESF Member Organsiations did not reach the required viability threshold for the five themes selected in 2010 and which included the PESC theme "Computational Mathematics as a Driving Force for Innovation in Europe (EuroCompMath)", the development of the five themes is discontinued. The resulting calls for outline proposals will therefore not be launched.
