The Official Inauguration of the Marine Board Secretariat’s new facilities at the InnovOcean site in Ostend (14 May 2008) marked an important step towards strengthening links and improving interactions with other key marine research networks and institutions and relevant policy groups, some of which are located at the InnovOcean site or have representation in Brussels.

The InnovOcean site is becoming an expanding node of synergies housing the Flemish Institute for the Sea (VLIZ), UNESCO’s IOC Project Office for IODE, and the Coordination Centre for Integrated Zone Management of the Province of West Flanders.

The inauguration preceded the 1st Marine Board Forum, organised in the new facilities at the InnovOcean site.
