The Marine Board Panels address continuous marine science and technology operational issues in the areas where the panel members, and by extension their institutions, would benefit from interacting with each others, e.g. networking and exchange of best practices.
The Marine Board Panels are composed of experienced professionals representing specific technical and operational areas. The Panels are considered on a long term basis. Continuous information exchange between the Marine Board and its Panels is undertaken to provide a forum for its members and a pool of expertise and information source for reference and interaction with the Marine Board.
The Communications Network is a Panel of the Marine Board-ESF, operating as a collaborative network of marine communicators across Europe. The main aim of the Network is to mutually assist its members in promoting and communicating marine science across Europe and exchanging ideas on events, communications methods and best practice. Members only access here.
In the Aberdeen Declaration (June 2007) Marine Board and EuroGOOS expressed their support of the EMODN concept. In February 2008, a Marine Board – EuroGOOS Panel was set up in order to emphasise the importance of the different aspects of the network:
- Observation aspects;
- Link between infrastructures and data;
- Harmonisation regarding management of data collected under different policy frames;
- Socio economic data;
- Property Rights on data.
The Marine Board – EuroGOOS Panel aims at providing a strategic overview and a European vision on EMODN.
