NEW! Joint SCH-ESSC Call for Expressions of Interest "Humans in Outer Space"
The ESSC carries out studies and evaluations for various bodies and institutions. Examples of past and ongoing such assessment studies are provided on the STUDIES page.
To support these activities the ESSC Chairperson or designated representatives participate ex officio in various scientific advisory committees of ESA and the European Commission. It sits in ESA’ Ministerial Councils with an observer status.
The Committee meets twice a year in plenary sessions. A Core Group, consisting of the Chairperson, of Panel Chairs and of the Executive Scientific Secretary also meets twice a year. Agenda documents for plenary meetings can be downloaded by members HERE. Minutes and presentations from these meetings are accessible to ESSC members and EFOs through these links:
The general public can access public highlights from the plenary meetings here
In addition the Space Sciences Unit encourages space researchers to make good use of ESF resources as part of their work in space science research. All ESF instruments are eligible in that context. A specific example concerns the ESF Inter-disciplinary New Initiative Fund, which allows ESF units to work jointly on a common project. The ESSC is currently involved in two INIF activities:
Humans in Space
International Polar Year (ESF link) and EuroIPY (external link)
