Abstract

This Science Policy Briefing summarizes the statements and recommendations delivered by the Forward Look on:

- future scientific trends with respect to nanomaterials and devices, analytical and imaging tools, novel therapeutics and drug delivery systems, clinical applications and regulatory issues, safety and toxicological issues

- research strategy and policy in terms of research organisation and funding, exploitation from research to the market, interdisciplinary education, communication

- and mechanisms to facilitate effective dissemination of information to the general public and policy makers.
