Marine Data Challenges: from Observation to Information
The 1st Marine Board Forum was held on 15 May 2008 and focused on marine data issues: observation, collection, management and processing. This topic is very timely given the on-going debate about the creation of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODNET) and its links to various initiatives, such as ESONET, EMSO, MerSEA, ECOOP, Euro-ARGO, EuroSITES, SeaDataNet, etc.
Through its Forum, the Marine Board is willing to foster updates and interactions among the marine science community. Representatives from marine- and maritime-related groups and networks as well as Marine Board sister organisations came together to discuss this common theme.
