Ms. Maud Evrard holds a degree in bio-engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Agronomie de Rennes, with a Research Master in Agricultural Economics from the Université de Montpellier I. As permanent representative of the French research institute on the exploitation of the sea (Ifremer) in Brussels, Maud gained an inner view of EU R&D activities related to the marine sciences. Currently Science Officer at the Marine Board, she is involved in foresight initiatives. She facilitates a network of marine communicators from major national marine research facilities across Europe and is also in charge of the preparation of dissemination/communication products (i) focused on marine related matters and (ii) targeted towards policy makers or public at large. Mr. Aurélien Carbonnière
Aurélien Carbonnière holds a master degree in Integrated Coastal Zone Management from the European Institute of Marine Studies in Brest, France in partnership with the Coastal management department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. He acted as the Ifremer (French research institute on the exploitation of the sea) representative dealing with European marine policies and strategies in support of the French research community. As a Science officer of the Marine Board, he’s currently in charge of supervising marine infrastructure matters (research fleets, monitoring and observing systems etc.) and he is supporting an interdisciplinary Working Group on the Ecosystem Approach for an improved management of the European Seas. He regularly organises interdisciplinary workshops both on scientific and programmatic issues. Email
Mr. Jan-Bart Calewaert, graduated as a bio-engineer in cell and gene biotechnology (UGent) and completed his studies in Ecological Marine Management in 2004 (UA/VUB). For VLIZ, he worked on diverse themes including sea level rise, pollution, indicators for sustainable development of the North Sea and indicators for the state of the marine and coastal environment in Flanders. For the Maritime Institute and the Laboratory of Environmental Toxicology and Aquatic Ecology (UGent), Jan-Bart has coordinated/participated several multi-disciplinary research projects related to sustainable management of the North Sea, risk assessment of marine activities, marine contingency planning and assessment and remediation of environmental damage.
