ESF-EMBO Symposia

ESF-EMBO Partnership

The European Science Foundation (ESF) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), within the framework of the ESF Research Conferences Scheme, have agreed to co-sponsor a series of meetings, to be known as ESF-EMBO Symposia, which will be at the highest scientific level with respect to topics and choice of participants.

ESF-EMBO Symposia are bringing together participants and experts from the Life Sciences and other related science disciplines to discuss topics that are of major importance to the scientific community in Europe. Topics are at the forefront of scientific research and interdisciplinary, focusing on Molecular Biology at the interface with other disciplines such as Chemistry, Physics, Computing Science, Mathematics and Modelling, Space Science, Clinical Medicine, Engineering, Environmental Science, Humanities and Social Sciences.

ESF-EMBO Symposia are supported by Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Innovació, Universitats i Empresa.

European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO)

The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) aims to promote biosciences in Europe. The Organization is funded by contributions from 27 Member States, which together form the European Molecular Biology Conference (EMBC), and is composed of more than 1300 scientists who have been selected by existing members on the basis of their excellence in research in the many different areas of molecular biology.

The Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprises of the Catalan Autonomous Government is promoting, together with other Government Departments and institutions, the Catalan Bioregion, an initiative that intends to coordinate the activity of scientists in clinical and basic research in the universities, research centres and companies that work in the area of biomedicine and biotechnology. In addition, the Comissionat per a Universitats i Recerca wishes to promote international cooperation in these areas of biomedicine and biotechnology as reflected by the fact that it has recently become part of the network “EuroBioCluster”, to stimulate competitiveness and European construction.
