The ESF Conferences Unit’s 2007 Call for Proposals invites proposals for conferences to take place in 2008 (in the field of Mathematics) and 2009 (in all other fields).
The ESF Research Conference Scheme provides the opportunity for leading scientists and younger researchers to meet for discussions on the most recent developments in their fields of research and it acts as a catalyst for creating new synergistic contacts throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Before submitting a Proposal, please read the ’Guidelines’ carefully and follow the procedures laid down in ’How to Submit Proposals for...’.

The following scientific areas will be covered by the Call:
Biology+ (Biology at the Interface with Other Science Disciplines) | |
Physics/Biophysics and Environmental Sciences | |
Social Sciences and Humanities | |
Global Change Research |
The Proposals are evaluated through international Peer Review for which Referees will be nominated by the appropriate ESF Scientific Committees. The final assessment and selection of topics, on the basis of three written reviews, will be made jointly by the Partner Organizations through a Review Panel composed of members of the ESF Scientific Committees and scientists nominated by the Partner Organizations.
The Assessment Criteria are:
- Scientific scope of the proposal
- Scientific relevance in terms of novelty, originality and timeliness
- European dimension and added value
- Draft programme: scientific standing of the proposer and quality of the proposed scientific programme.

A maximum of three proposals will be selected within the framework of the new partnership established between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Poland (MSHE), the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the European Science Foundation (ESF). The proposals will be assessed by the three Partner Organisations.
