The Science of Innovation is an important, growing field of research and this conference aimed at presenting state-of-the-art, thought-provoking insights from the cutting edge of 'the science of innovation' on crucial issues for today's policy makers.

As innovation has become a centre-piece of European policy, in-depth understanding of its dynamics and impact has become mandatory. The conference, held at the European Parliament and co-hosted by the Science and Technology Options Assessment (STOA) panel and the European Science Foundation (ESF), sought to provoke debate over core assumptions in innovation policy.

A Policy Brief was produced as a result of the conference.
