The polar regions respond faster than any other environment to climate change. The increase in temperature leads to melting ice caps which could ultimately result in rising sea levels.
Through the International Polar Year, the largest and most ambitious internationally-coordinated scientific effort for half a century, scienctists are addressing the serious global threat of climate change.
