The UK's Natural Environment Research Council funds and carries out impartial scientific research in the sciences of the environment. NERC trains the next generation of independent environmental scientists. NERC's role is to bring together the full range of science necessary to understand the earth's complex and dynamic environment. Current budget: around £ 250 million
