Head of Media Relations: Kajsa Eriksson (kajsa.eriksson@vr.se)
ESCIN representative: Project Manager Tina Zethraeus (tiz@vr.se)
Main responsibilities of information office
The Swedish Research Council bears national responsibility for science communication; providing general information about research and research findings, thus making research accessible both to specialists and to the general public. School children, teachers and journalist are some prioritized target groups.

One key function is to initiate debate on research and ethical issues in research. Here, the objective is to boost people's knowledge of, and participation in, the kinds of key social issues that are powerfully affected by research development and results.

An other priority assignment is to find, in collaboration with the university sector and other research sponsors, new ways of reaching out and encouraging debate and popularisation of research. In cooperation with other research sponsors, the Council is developing a portal on the Internet (www.forskning.se) with facts on research and the research system in Sweden.

In the area of science communication the Swedish Research Council also serves as a link between the International research community and the Swedish research community, initiating and stimulating professional exchange of knowledge, experiences and ideas.
