Role of organisation |
The mision of NWO is to enhance the quality of scientific research in the Netherlands - as effectively as possible. It acts as the national research council for the Netherlands and has a central role is many international projects. NWO is an independent organisation established by an Act of Parliament in 1988. NWO's budget, of which the main part is recieved from the Ministry of Education and Science, amounts to 443 million euro in 2004. | |

Main responsibilities of information office |
Dissemination of corporate and scientific information to the general public and the media, production of the NWO Yearbook, guides and brochures, policy documents, Press and Research Reports, newsletters and the Hypothese magazine, organising scientific lectures and symposia like the annual presentation of the winners of the Spinoza prizes. | |
