Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft |
||
Role of organisation |
The DFG is an autonomous organisation within the German scientific community which serves all fields of science and the arts by financing research projects. The DFG counsels parliaments and authorities on academic matters and fosters the relationship between academia, industry, commerce and German research and foreign academic institutions. It puts particular emphasis on support for young graduates. The work of the DFG's honorary elected reviewers provides the actual basis for the organisation's financial support for research projects and it is to their reviews that the Grant Committee refers when making its decisions. The DFG's budget of almost DM 2 billion comes from the Federal Government and the 16 Länder. | |
