  • "RNAQuality workshop for PhD students and Postdocs"
    29-30 April 2010, Strasbourg, France

This workshop did provide an opportunity, especially for recently starting students and postdocs, to discuss with fellow students and postdocs their work in progress ‐ even though perhaps not publishable yet ‐ and the problems they encounter.

2009

  • Workshop
    RNA Quality 2009
13-15 May 2009, Gif sur Yvette, France,

The three Collaborative Research Programs of this Eurocores study different and complementary aspects of RNA quality control and RNA localization. A common workshop will foster exchange of information between laboratories working in different still related fields and might promote inter-CRP collaborative activities.

2008

  • PhD Workshop
    Structure and function of mRNP
    4-8 August 2008, Aarhus, Denmark,
    organised by Torben Heick Jensen

The event was attended by 31 PhD students from top class RNA/RNP laboratories in Europe, Australia and Russia. This training workshop continued to foster links between RNAQuality and EuroDYNA. It involved 4 PIs of all 3 CRPs as lecturers as well as one PI from EuroDYNA. In addition, 6 PhDs from the RNAQuality network attended as well as 2 from EuroDYNA.

    • RNAQuality Meeting
      11-13 June 2008, Granada, Spain

This conference brought together 50 participants, including 32 RNAQuality members. Talks were given by 29 experts, 9 of whom are leaders from the US. All CRPs were represented through talks or posters. The conference was the first of its kind on the topic of RNA quality, attracting leaders from Europe and the US alike. Young students and postdocs got to know each other, explored common territories and had a chance to meet PIs otherwise not accessible to them. PIs gave an overview of the field and discussed open scientific issues as well as possibilities for mobility between laboratories. Building on the success of this conference, the RNAQuality community decided to have another meeting in early 2010.

      Press releases from the event:

Technologies bring new era for RNA research: A transformation in the understanding of how genes and their expression are controlled by RNA molecules has taken place over the last decade with the help of technical advances in imaging, bioinformatics, and rapid sequencing.....more

RNA emerges from DNA's shadow: RNA, the transporter of genetic information within the cell, has emerged from the shadow of DNA to become one of the hottest research areas of molecular biology, with implications for many diseases as well as for the understanding of evolution.... more

2007

  • Mini-Symposium on "RNA Biogenesis and Quality Control"
held on 18 September in Aarhus University, Denmark

The symposium was initiated to provide an efficient platform for establishing collaborations across CRPs within the RNAQuality Programme, and moreover, to begin to establish links to laboratories within the EuroDYNA Programme. To this end, members of two different CRPs as well as David Shore, a Project Leader of the EuroDYNA Programme, and one of his students participated by presenting their data.

  • RNAQuality "Kick-off" meeting, held on 11 May 2007 at ESF, Strasbourg, France

The RNAQuality community met for the first time to discuss the needs of the field and future activities. They decided to put emphasis on the training of young researchers and on establishing a platform for European investigators to join forces and to stimulate new research initiatives in this exciting field.
