Regenerative Medicine (REMEDIC)

Exchange Grants - Call for Applications

REMEDIC is offering funding for a number of Exchange Grants of up to one month (in exceptional cases, even longer) for scientists working on topics related to the scientific objectives of the Programme.

*registered as PhD students or with less than four years research experience

These grants are especially directed to young scientists* who propose to visit a host laboratory to learn new/recent “omics”, molecular or other techniques, particularly if the applicant is from a laboratory where the use of these techniques has no long tradition. Priority will be given to young scientists who are currently based in one of the 14 countries that financially support the programme (see below).

One of the conditions of eligibility as listed in the Guidelines for Grants: undertake work applicable to REMEDIC; proposals should focus on the use of  bio-compatible materials and/or cells as a part of regenerative medicine to help achieve rapid progress in this newly developed field. Therefore a multidisciplinary approach is welcome from basic to clinical trials for future safe applications in the clinic.

Please note that the Steering Committee will fund only sufficient high-quality applications. Junior applicants with little experience in writing a proposal are therefore strongly recommended to ask advice from their senior local and/or host supervisor on these matters. In addition, it is of the utmost importance that the application describes how the proposed project fits into and will promote the objectives of REMEDIC.

Priority will be given to applicants who come from or intend to visit countries that financially support the programme (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland,  Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). With regard to applications from Senior Scientists priority will be given where knowledge from ‘leading’ laboratories is disseminated to ‘emerging’ laboratories in the field or to otherwise well motivated visits.

Application Procedure

Application forms should be submitted using the online Application Form

You may encounter problems with the online application form if you are using Netscape as a browser.  If this happens, please change to Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.  You will also need to enable your computer to accept cookies while completing the form.

Further information on payment procedures, reporting, ESF financial rules for the reimbursement of travel costs etc. can be found in the Guidelines for Grants (PDF - 842 KB).

Deadline

There is no fixed deadline for the submission of applications. Funding decisions are taken by the REMEDIC Steering Committee every two to three months, but can, for fast decisions, be delegated to the Scientific Visit Subgroup and Programme Chair.  When submitting applications please try to ensure that there is at least three months be-tween the date of submission and the proposed starting date of the visit, to ensure that the Committee have sufficient time to evaluate the application.
