Computational Disease Modeling

ESF Exploratory Workshop - PESC - LESC

Convened by: Albert Compte (ES), Johan Bjorkegren (SE), Carme Junqué (ES), Jesper Tegner (SE)

Location: 24-26 September 2008, Barcelona, Spain

Keywords

Clinic, networks, Computational modeling, Systems Biology, Medicine.

Summary

Quantitative modeling has recently become crucial in understanding biology. The idea of the proposed workshop is to bring the two traditions of detailed (systems biology) versus abstract (physics) modeling approaches together with selected experimentalists/clinical scientists. Our specific aim is to address how human diseases can and should be modeled given the current and future state of knowledge and data.
