Services Provided in a EUROCORES Programme

1. EUROCORES Scientific Coordination and Monitoring

  • Support for the programme development from initial selection to the final evaluation
  • Support for the scientific and administrative preparation and coordination of the Call for proposals
  • Management of the international peer review and project selection process
  • Support for the work of the EUROCORES Management Committee (representing the participating Funding Agencies), especially regarding the funding negotiations.
  • Monitoring of Programme activities, and reporting in close liaison with the Management Committee
  • Scientific coordination of Programme activities and interaction with all parties involved (Scientific Committee, Review Panel and Management Committee, others stakeholders or end-users) as well as the scientists in the Programme
  • Management of the mid-term and final reporting and evaluation at project and Programme level as well as the arrangement of possible work adjustment
  • Support for the definition of future science plans

2. EUROCORES Networking and Integration

  • Building synergies with related national and international programmes and initiatives;
  • Support of networking and integration of the research projects within and across EUROCORES Programmes
  • Organisation, support and management of all Programme activities, typically including:
       -3 meetings of the Review Panel (sifting and ranking meetings, and final evaluation meeting) for the Project selection and Programme monitoring
       -4 meetings of the Scientific Committee (bringing together Project Leaders of funded projects) for the overall scientific steering of the Programme
       -5-8 topical or science policy oriented workshops for the development of collaboration in the Programme and for the exploration of new scientific issues
       -1-3 Programme-wide conferences or Programme-related open sessions at conferences for synthesis and for dissemination of the results
  • Capacity-building through summer schools and support of short-term visits for junior researchers involved in the Programme
  • Other co-sponsored activities
  • Interactions and cooperation with other ESF activities and beyond
  • Targeted dissemination and promotion of scientific achievements and best practices

3. EUROCORES Programme Coordinators

Per 4 Programmes ESF recruits a EUROCORES Programme Coordinators who is responsible for the scientific management and integration of the Programme in close liaison with the Committees mentioned above. The added value and synergy effect of these Coordinators working together in one office are
  -from a managerial point of view
         -Uniform quality control and harmonised procedures across all disciplines 
 - from a scientific point of view
         -Efficient synergy across different EUROCORES Programmes and possibility for integration with other ESF or MO activities in the same scientific domain or even across scientific domains.

The EUROCORES Programme Coordinators are experienced scientists selected by the ESF from within the appropriate research community or research managers from one of ESF Member Organisations.
