Dissemination and capacity-building activities

A limited amount of additional funding is made available each year by the national funding organisations to help create added value in ECRP programmes. These funds are intended for “dissemination and capacity building” activities that deepen the impact of the research, strengthen the field and generally raise awareness of the ECRP scheme.

Eligible activities could include:

  • Short-term visits for junior project members (see separate guidelines).
  • Joint workshops (preferably co-funded) with external groups and related ESF or other programmes and initiatives.
  • Academic and non-academic dissemination events (conference panels/workshops, stakeholder workshops, etc.).

Proposed activities should be supplementary to activities planned within the normal course of the project.

Assessment criteria are as follows:

  1. Potential impact of the proposed dissemination/capacity-building activity;
  2. Justification of the requested budget;
  3. Other.

Proposals for activities with more significant impacts will be given priority. The involvement of junior project members is especially encouraged.

Applications for funding will be considered periodically. Each proposal will first be checked for eligibility and completeness by the ECRP scheme coordinator and then assessed by the Scientific Committee. Funding decisions will be made as promptly as possible. Final decisions on funding will be made by the ECRP office.

Important:

  • Proposers of dissemination/capacity-building activities are invited to consult the ECRP scheme coordinator by email prior to the formal submission of a proposal.
  • After appproval of the proposals by the Scientific Committee and the ECRP scheme coordinator, activities which involve the organisation of meetings of any kind and proposals for short-term visits will be formally submitted through an online system (see links below).

Meetings

Please note that applications for the organisation or co-sponsorship of meetings (workshops, conferences or schools) are not open to the public but only to projects selected by the Programme’s Scientific Committee and authorised by the ECRP scheme coordinator (see above).

Before submitting any application, please carefully read  the “Guidelines for dissemination and capacity-building activities”.

Short visits

Please note that applications for short visits are not open to the public but only to projects selected by the Programme’s Scientific Committee and authorised by the ECRP scheme coordinator (see above).

Before submitting any application, please carefully read  the “Guidelines for short-term visits”.

ECRP corporate text

European Collaborative Research Projects (ECRP)

The European Collaborative Research Projects (ECRP) scheme is a flexible funding mechanism to support investigator-driven, multinational collaborative research projects in the social sciences. Researchers may collaborate across participating countries on any subject in the social sciences that demonstrates a need for international cooperation, while funding remains at a national level. The European Science Foundation (ESF) coordinates the scheme on behalf of the participating national funding organisations, which provide direct funding for the research projects and ESF’s programme coordination, and also indirect funding for supplementary dissemination and capacity-building activities.
