Participants of the First EuroMinScI Conference

  • First EuroMinScI Programme-wide Conference, La Colle sur Loup, FR, 26-29 March 2007
This first EuroMinScI Conference has been organised with keynote talks, presentations of projects, individual talks, cross-projects meetings and poster sessions, along five major topics: 1 - Mineral Physics of the Earth's Mantle & Core; 2 - Microstructure and Mineral Behaviour; 3 - Atomistic Understanding of Minerals; 4 - Reactivity & Structure of Surfaces & Interfaces; 5 - Defects and Disorder in Minerals. It will make it possible for all EuroMinScI project members to present their latest achievements, to interact closely with the EuroMinScI science community and some prominent, external keynote speakers, to emphasise the contributions of junior researchers, and to discuss about the future activities of the EuroMinScI programme.

  • “Workshop on numerical modelling of microstructures”, Cadaqués, ES, 26-28 February 2007
Dr Paul Bons (Tübingen University, DE) proposed to organise a workshop on numerical modelling of microstructures. The workshop will serve two main aims. Firstly, to introduce the participants in the range of modelling possibilities that are currently available to simulate microdynamic processes. The software package Elle (developed by the organisers) will be used to provide hands-on practical examples. Secondly, the workshop will bring together developers, modellers and potential modellers to discuss new methods and applications of modelling, in particular 3D modelling techniques and linking modelling to EBSD and in-situ synchrotron experiments.
