Call for Proposals

Extension of deadline for Outline and Full Proposals

On an exceptional basis and with the aim of attracting more Proposals, ESF has decided to merge the deadline for the submission of Outline and Full Proposals. The deadline for the joint submission is June 25th, 2010 noon CET.

With this new deadline the relevant scientific communities are provided an extended opportunity to establish new cooperation and to prepare proposals for collaborative research projects (CRPs). Please note that for new applicants (i.e., those who have not responded to the call of outline proposals under EuroTRACES Programme) it is mandatory to submit both the Outline and the Full Proposal. In this exceptional case, the length of the Outline Proposals can be limited to a maximum of 2 pages.

The proposing teams  which have already submitted the Outline Proposals by the original deadline of March 26th, 2010, are invited to submit only the Full Proposals.

Call for Eurofleets

Since the availability of ship time is a crucial component for the EuroTRACES Programme, ESF invites all the scientific communities interested in this Programme to consider as well the submission of an application to the EU initiative Eurofleets, part of the 7th Framework Programme. If successful after the FP7 selection process, the application will allocate some days of ship time on one of the research vessels listed in the Eurofleets website. The deadline for submissions to Eurofleets is May 31st, 2010, 18:00 CET. For more information on Eurofleeets, please follow this link.

Call for Outline Proposals

Following agreement with organisations in  Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain,  the European Science Foundation launched a Call for Outline Proposals for Collaborative Research Projects (CRPs) to be undertaken within the EUROCORES Programme EuroTRACES.
EuroTRACES will run for 3-4 years and includes national research funding, as well as support for networking and dessemination activities provided by the ESF. The Programme aims to support high quality multidisciplinary research.

Eligibility

Proposals from individual researchers and research groups eligible for funding by the participating Funding Agencies will be accepted for consideration in the EUROCORES Programme EuroTRACES.

Applicants should contact their National Funding Agencies in order to verify eligibility and ensure compliance with the relevant agency's granting rules and regulations.

Supplementary information on Funding Agencies special national requirements is also available.

Proposals are only eligible if they fulfil the following criteria:

  • Proposals must involve 3 eligible Principal Investigators (PIs) from 3 different countries
  • A maximum of 50% of the Individual Projects (IPs) in a Collaborative Research Project (CRP) can come from one country
  • Proposals must involve more PIs than Associate Partners (APs)

Application Procedure - Outline Proposals

The call for Outline Proposals has been re-opened. The online application form requests the following information:

  • Outline proposal details (title, start date, duration, total budget, etc...)
  • Personal data of the Project leader, Principal Investigators and Associate Partners
  • Uploaded file with CRP details. Download here the updated abridged version of the form to be uploaded.

You may find helpful the EUROCORES Glossary and Frequently Asked Questions.

For technical reasons, it would be ideal to receive the Outline Proposals a few days before the official deadline, since only having submitted the Outline Proposal will you be able to get access to the Full Proposal online form.

Application Procedure - Full Proposals

An Outline Proposal has to be submitted before access is given to the online application form for Full Proposals. The first part of the online form for Full Proposals is similar to the one submitted for Outline Proposals. However, the file to be uploaded is much more extensive. There is no pre-formatted form for it, but you must  read carefully the Application Guidelines for Full Proposals before preparing your application.

As part of the  proposal, applicants will be asked to provide the overall budget of the Collaborative Research Project (CRP) (table A), a specification of the budget per Individual Project (IP) (table B), and the sum of the requested IP budgets per year (table C).

Programme Structure and Management

The overall responsibility for the governance of the programme lies with a Management Committee, whose membership is formed by one representative from each participating funding organisation (usually a senior science management) together with an ESF representative.

Proposal assessment and selection are the responsibility of an independant international Review Panel consisting of leading experts in the field.

The Scientific Committee which is formed by the Project leader of all funded CRPs will be responsible for proposing a Programme work-plan including networking activities for scientific synergy in the EUROCORES Programme. They will also advise and support the EUROCORES Programme Coordinator in the coordination of networking activities.
