EURAFFIN (A European Resource of Affinity Reagents for Analysis of the Human Proteome) is one of five research topics that will be presented in the frame of EuroBioForum (17-19 September, Strasbourg, France). The plenary presentation and workshop will be on Thursday 18 September from 14.15 until 17.45.

The European Affinity Reagent Infrastructure integrating activity (EURAFFIN) addresses the widely acknowledged need for integrated, comprehensive resources of well characterised affinity binding reagents (mainly antibodies, but also alternative binders) for detection of all human proteins in health and disease. An infrastructure comprising such resources will have profound and wide-ranging benefits for European basic research, medicine and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. EURAFFIN will consolidate, reinforce and develop distributed infrastructures currently linked as partners within the FP6 Coordination Action ‘ProteomeBinders’. The EURAFFIN partnership unites the expertise of leading European groups, renowned for innovation in affinity reagent design, production and characterisation. A major database collating binder information, quality control and experimental data, currently in development by ProteomeBinders, will be a central service facility of the infrastructure. In addition, the consortium will take a lead role in a global initiative in the area of proteome-wide binding reagent production, as well as having the support of leading industry.
